An Optometrist is a healthcare professional who is licensed to practice optometry They are licensed to practice optometry, which primarily involves performing eye exams and vision tests, prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses, detecting certain eye abnormalities, and prescribing medications for certain eye diseases. An Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specialises in eye care and is licensed to practice medicine and surgery and can perform surgeries on the eye, diagnose all eye diseases in addition to prescribing and fitting eye glasses and contact lenses.
